The Leavers' Balls

Man this week has been party after party, first there was the Drew's thing (andrew that is) to be honest as parties go that was a good party but i personally think it does not compare to the Leavers' ball. Sure meeting people and dancing was great but still the Leavers' Ball had something special to it!

The Leavers' ball was basically on a stationary boat, a three course dinner followed by dancing pass midnight. The ball in itself was filled with memorable events such as David Levin (my headmaster), a six foot plus guy dancing with simon a shortage guy, and strangely it was Levin who was being twirled round the dance floor. That wasn't the only memorable event, there was Conyers being his usual fly (DRUNK) self and trying to chat up this guy with an immortal line of "You have nice breast!!!" admittedly she was wearing a roman slave girl type dress which by the way looked stunning but still!!!! There was also Conyers being slightly less than sober sucking as much helium as he can to reach those high notes that he so desperately wanted to sing!!! While we are on the subject of chatting up girls, I am sorry to say but Tom Cahn had the worst time ever!!! Either the girls where so frightened by his persistent talking about the most random subjects such as feminists (not that I have anything against them I hasten to add) or they just plain avoided him at every turn, there was one girl who shall remain nameless desperately trying to find anyone to sit next to her so that Tincan would not be able to talk to her!!! Oh man, that just made my whole day (sorry tincan!!!). Other people's misery aside it truly was amazing to see everyone just putting aside differences and having a good time, having a huge swaying circle to various retro cheesy music!

Looking back at my time at CLS there truly have been so many different memories more than I had space to put into my yearbook entry, there was obviously the FAMOUS MISS THOMSON!! Man was she a looker!!!! We were such and evil (but mature) class I remember the record number of pencils dropping, as well as the perfect attendance record of 1E, plus going by the number of question and time we had to call her to look over our work, I would say we were a really "dumb" class!!! There was also the occasion when Joe broke his tooth while reaching down to pick up a pencil and the TLC (tender loving care, lots of aww u poor boy and cradling to her chest) from her!!! THAT LUCKY BOY!!!! Joe was a really interesting guy, I do have a few more stories about him, such as the time he lost his swimming trunk while swimming in Cornwall during a first form trip (hopefully some passing fisherman found them useful), I can remember the tide going out and Joe just standing quite a distance away hand covering his bits shouting for help!!!! There was also the time where he fell asleep in geog and poked his eye with a compass man that bloody scared me (was sitting next to him at the time) or when he flipped and when psycho on Gra for saying basketball was fake, never have I seen a guy with so much guts to get up in a middle of a geog lesson chuck a chair across the room and launch himself at Gra while the teacher was in the room!!!!!

To be honest I really don't have time to list all the memorable bits during the 7 years at City, there must be hundreds upon hundreds. I am honored to have been able to share my time at City with many good friends and delighted to say that there have been many entries into the history books, sure there were shitty times and times where I just wondered why is this shit happening to me but thanks to my friends , I have managed not only to survive but to come out on top with many amazing memories. People judge schools by exam results but to me that is only part of it (and quite a small part) the more important part is the memories and the personal development the school environment allows to to grow in. I went from a rather loner like bookworm to somebody I am proud to be, and along the way I made friends who I hope will stay with me for life. I could go on forever about all the different times and memories but in short (ok so this wasnt short) but I am a better person for knowing all these people. May the Good time keep on rolling
